Apparently, I have too much going on in my mind. Went to take the bus to finish up the edging on the new window tint and the bus wouldn't start! The windshield wipers were on for some reason so I thought the batteries had died - again! The first time we killed the batteries when Papa left the air conditioning, fans, electronics on for over a week! $522 to get new batteries. So I was not happy this morning. I called Papa Buz Driver in a panic and asked him to come take care of it because I had to go to work and I wasn't mentally prepared to deal with this problem today. He shows up and it started right up for him????? Turns out, I forgot to put the gear shift in Neutral. I didn't even check. I thought I was the last to drive it and I always leave it in neutral. Papa always puts it in reverse. Always look at the bright side though - I don't have to spend another $500 on new batteries.

Went to my first ever Spring Ho parade in Lampasas and got to see all the extremely hot people sweating on the sidewalks! Hopefully the music blasting from the windows gave some people a tune to dance to. Saw some people singing along and tapping their feet. Next year, I promise to have some water guns like the other floats had. Just don't spray the driver because all the electrical systems for the bus are right behind him! Don't want to fry the bus. The most awesomest thing was we WON 1ST PLACE for a non-float entry! Yay! Our first ribbon. Thank you Spring Ho committee for voting us #1.8)

If you've ever owned a business, maybe you will understand my frustration. Everything takes FOREVER!!!! Drop off for one thing, they say will be ready in a week. A month later, I pick it up. Two days to finish - a month later, I pick it up. And I still feel like I have so much to do! But the bus works, it plays music, it emits fog. Took it for a test ride for a family reunion and decided tint on the windows may be best for the summer! How did they ever go without it? But I'm afraid, that will take months too!

Did some "Market Research" this past weekend to check out the wine routes and some new wineries. First stop was Texas Legato which has expanded since the last time we were there. They added a new covered back porch sitting area and changed the bar location inside I think. Tried 5 wines for $5 and went home with their Blueberry and Port wines. Next stop was Pillar Bluff but we didn't go inside this time. I somehow only packed 2 business cards and wanted to get to new places we had never been before. Drove 40 minutes out to Pilot Knob, which was a first for us. A little hard to find with google maps and their sign directions could have been better - but that's why we drive the route. Beautiful location except my husband thought the house next to it reminded him of the Texas Chainsaw Masacre house! They offer 5 wines for $10 and right now only have 5 wines to offer. They usually have 7. So we tried all five and left with their port wine. It was a bit more expensive than I was used to ($56) but our tasting was free after purchasing a bottle. Next stop was Thirsty Mule. There was an awesome Ukelele player inside which made for a fun atmosphere! Of course, at this point, he could have been terrible and I would have thought he was great! 5 wines for $10. Pilot Knob gives you a coupon for Thirsty Mule since they partner together but the guy forgot to give us our half off! Didn't realize until after we were long gone though. Their strawberry wine was so delicious and I found a new favorite caramel chocolate wine Sweet Dreams! This will replace my Brown Cow Brown Chicken wine I used to buy from Salado Winery (they discontinued it). We stayed at Thirsty Mule and had two glasses of Sweet Dreams.
What we learned from this research? Texas Legato was excited to have a local wine tour business. At Pilot Knob, you have to stand at the bar to do the tastings (at Fiesta Winery, they come to your table). Thirsty Mule was a fun atmosphere but seems like they get a steady business flow (he threw my rack cards in a pile on the counter). Said he hands them out to people as they come in. We'll see. And the most important lesson - 4 wineries may be too many. We didn't even taste any at Pillar Bluff so that was only 3 wineries. Although, two less glasses of wine may have been better for me! My husband was fine since he is bigger than me. I'll try the 4 wineries and if too many people come back not having as good a time as they could have, I'll change it.
Next stops are Wedding Oak Winery, Fall Creek Vineyards, Perissos, and Torr Na Lochs.
We are wine club members at Fiesta so I know where that is!

I have achieved my license! Murphy's law tried to get me but I overcame! Bus has been parked for two weeks to get the new name decals put on and somone (papa?) left the air conditioning, two fans, everything else on, so it died of course. But I was prepared for something to go wrong and checked on it the night before the driving test. Wish I would have checked the day I was repainting the hood. (oh well). Batteries were dead so I woke up early the day of the driving test and went to my handy dady auto repair shop - AGAIN - and they hooked me up with 3 new super sized batteries (of course, they are the expensive kind!) But I was determined to take that driving test.
I arrived in Waco 3 hours early! Just to make sure. Everything was in working order but it rained the hour before my test. The rain was up to my ankles so I spent the next 8 hours with wet shoes. Not fun. Before the test, they tried to say my medical exam was missing and I told them to check again! They found it in the wrong spot. Then they couldn't see me driving because of the way the bus was built. Tried to tell me I would have to rent another bus and come back! So I removed some panels with the drill I happened to have laying around in there. I wasn't coming back for a fourth time people!!!
To give them credit, the Waco DMV was alot more user friendly than the Austin office. Three ladies came out to see the bus since they were excited about it and wished I was in the local area. I even got a smile (which she hid - but I saw) when I honked the crazy horn! Success in making someone's day brighter.

Unfortunately, the rain has been relentless. The goal of June 1st opening has been pushed back. Still finishing the outside painting of the bus and installing the new vinyl decals (hence the problem with the rain). Still waiting on Insurance to write the policy (they need more information of course). Still waiting on the TX DOT number from the state office (and we know how the government works!).
The one seat that was coming undone at the seams has been repaired and ready to be re-installed.
Haven't installed the dance pole yet (safety pole for the kiddos) until I get it back from the decal place.
Hoping tomorrow is nice weather so I can put the new karoake computer in at least?
